Life Chain

Life Chain is a public witness against the killing of unborn children. It is a time of silent prayer and public awareness against the evil of abortion.

Every year our fraternity participates in and promotes this Fall event, located at Hwy 7 and Islington Ave, in Woodbridge. The above photo depicts our latest presence at Life Chain. Protecting the unborn and spreading awareness on the evil of abortion has been our fraternity wide effort for several years now. One of our fraternity members has captured the passion and the essence of our collective witness at Life Chain:

For me Life Chain is the least that we can do for the thousands of babies being killed. My hope is that, by standing for 1 hour with a sign - "Adoption is the Other Option" (which is my favourite) - we might touch a passerby who may be struggling in making the right decision or a passerby that knows of someone who is struggling in making the right decision. In addition to this, it is also very important that we educate, by distributing pamphlets, etc., to individuals that maybe don't truly understand what abortion is and how it could affect them for the rest of their lives. AND to those that have had an abortion and are living with this tremendous guilt, that God, in his mercy, will forgive them in the Sacrament of Confession. I will admit, that I was one of those (never considered having an abortion, mind you), but I was Pro Choice at one time, long ago.... and now, I know better, thank God.

By exposing abortion for what it is and revealing the truth, we hope to clarify what is to be understood about this controversy, a controversy that began with the introduction of "therapeutic abortions" in 1969.

Today, abortion is available on demand and has been made so since 1988, by the court challenge of the infamous Dr. Henry Morgentaler. Abortion has gone mainstream and the perception of the gravity of this act of killing seems to have diminished in the collective consciousness of so many Canadians. Statistics for Canadian abortions provided by Campaign Life Coalition's web site, is "proof posiive" of the increasing desentization toward the killing of a human being in the womb. In Canada alone, there are approximately 120,000 surgical abortions performed each year. Since the legalization of abortion in 1969, 3.2 million Canadians have died as a result of elective abortions.
